Supporting NUCAArt and Design education in Norwich - a lasting legacy Norwich has a long standing connection with the arts including the Norwich Twenty Group, founded in 1944, and the nineteenth century Norwich School of Painters. The annual Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Castle and NUCA Galleries draw international practitioners into the city. Since 1845, not only has the art school in Norwich occupied a place in the heart of the community but also the students' workshops and studios are housed in some of the City's most historic buildings. From the 1960s the school became particularly well known for the disciplines of graphic design and painting, coming together with Great Yarmouth College of Art in 1989 to form Norfolk Institute of Art and Design (NIAD). Renamed Norwich School of Art and Design in 1994 and then Norwich University College of the Arts in 2007, NUCA now awards its own degrees and in 2010 offered a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. NUCA continues to earn its excellent international reputation, and our students enjoy being part of the city's dynamic creative community.
