BA Film and Moving Image Production

This distinctive and professionally focused BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production degree course welcomes enthusiastic students who are inspired by the possibilities of film and moving image and are driven to make their own contribution to the field. The course has gained recognition for its emphasis on supporting students to become original and inspirational storytellers and to develop high levels of creative and technical skill.

The overarching aim of the course is to enable you to become an innovative film maker with astute market awareness and a thorough appreciation of the rapidly evolving significance of film and moving image in contemporary culture. Over the three years of the course you will experience workshops, professional guest lecturers, industry placements, group critiques and one-to-one tuition as you experiment with style and genre and begin to define your own area of specialism and career path. You will join a course led by noted film makers, sound artists and corporate films specialists in which a community of undergraduate and postgraduate students explore drama, documentary and experimental narrative.

You will also join a wider community of film makers and enthusiasts in Norwich. NUCA has a close relationship with nearby Cinema City, which regularly screens short films by NUCA students. The course also enjoys a relationship with the BBC and you will have the opportunity to work on collaborative projects.

During the course you will regularly interact with industry professionals through ‘Pitch and Presentation’ sessions and live projects with external companies such as RSA Films. You will be able to include such work in your own showreel. You will work individually and as a member of production teams to generate original film and moving image productions, developing your understanding of the production process and budgeting.
