Student SupportStudents may receive help and support with a range of educational, practical, personal and financial matters to ensure an enjoyable and rewarding experience at the University College. Programmes of AssistanceWelfareAll students (UK and non-UK) are entitled to treatment from the National Health Service (NHS) free of charge providing your course of study in the UK lasts for more than 6 months. You will not have to pay for hospital treatment, but you may have to pay for some dental treatment and a standard charge for medicines prescribed by a doctor. Please see the UKCISA website for more information. CounsellingNUCA provides an independent professional counselling service for the students through an external agency known as The Norwich Centre. Accommodation issuesAccommodation information is made available online during the summer term to all students who have accepted an offer and includes details of accommodation on offer, how to apply, private accommodation lists, details of the University College's student share list (a list of Year One students looking for accommodation and willing to share with other NUCA students) and information on living in the community. Disabilities and DyslexiaThe Student Support office offers a dedicated service providing information and advice on disabilities including assistance with applying for funding support through the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA). International StudentsNUCA understands that when arriving from outside the UK you may need a little extra support to help settle into your new community. The University College provides a dedicated support service including advice on visas, working in the UK and registering with police, doctors and banks as well as support on cultural differences. Student Support, which is responsible for the personal welfare of all students studying at the University College, can also help with any welfare issues. All international students at NUCA are eligible to receive up to four hours of English language support each term week free of charge. Please note that if you have a disability, non-UK resident students are not eligible for the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), and you should consider whether there are alternative sources of funding in your home country that could support you. It is headed by the Academic Registrar and has three subdivisions as follows:
