MA Moving Image and Sound

Music video still

The MA Moving Image and Sound offers students with a wide range of relevant skills and interests the chance to develop collaborative, independent, innovative and professional creative solutions. Students have the opportunity to develop a balance between advancing their own practice and identifying contexts which challenge assumptions and enhance the knowledge base appropriate to their practice.

This stimulating academic environment encourages interdisciplinary production and collaborative opportunities that emphasise the synergising importance of teamwork within a creative environment. Committed to being at the cutting edge, the course also embraces new technologies and explores the aesthetic and artistic issues that arise from them.

The course supports studio practice, research and contextual study along with the development of your business and professional skills. The course encompasses the acquisition of specialist conceptual and technical skills and knowledge required for the professional practitioner to pursue a career in the audio-visual and creative industries.

Depending on your area of chosen specialism, the course enables you to engage with the following areas of practice and theory: audio-visual production, film, motion graphics, traditional and CGI 2D and 3D animation, character and asset development for games, scripting and narrative and pre- and post-production.

The course is geared towards those who wish to further develop their skills as well as established practitioners and is also suitable for applicants wishing to explore broader themes in contemporary moving image and sound for film and video, games art and design, as well as animation and sound.
