BA (Hons) FINE ART

The opportunity to pursue your chosen specialism or to operate within the broad spectrum of contemporary fine art practice."

Carl Rowe
COURSE LEADER

The BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Norwich instils awareness and appreciation of fine art in its broadest contemporary context, whilst providing the creative and fabrication skills that empower the exploration of personal ideas.

The course is structured around the areas of Painting, Print & New Media, and Sculpture and incorporates a vast range of subjects and techniques. Students are encouraged to select methodologies appropriate to their concepts and chosen media.

LEVEL ONE

Our starting point is drawing and visual research. A blend of critiques, lectures, seminars and tutorials help identify ongoing areas of interest, which may become an individual’s specialism.

At all times individual investigation and research is encouraged.

LEVEL TWO

In Level Two students develop a deeper appreciation of the context of their work and are exposed to the relationship between their work and the audience. Students lead their own seminars and session groups with plenty of scope for provocative debate.

Lectures on professional practice help prepare for the transition from student to artist. There are opportunities to curate the Student Gallery or participate in overseas exchanges.

Level Two culminates in a group exhibition in the public domain.

LEVEL THREE

Upon completion of a Critical Studies dissertation there is time for students to mature their ideas through further studio practice. They will produce a final body of work for assessment and exhibition. Attended by curators, collectors, buyers, business and the public, this event showcases their work in a professional environment.
